Jesus Wept…
So much seems to be going on in the world these days. With that said, emotions can run high.
Emotions are a fundamental part of being human. Throughout my life, I’ve come to understand that it’s perfectly okay to cry when I’m overwhelmed by these feelings. It’s a way to release the pent-up emotions that can otherwise weigh me down.
In the Bible, there’s a verse that has always resonated with me in moments of emotional struggle:
Psalm 34:18 – “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” This verse reminds me that even in my most vulnerable moments, there is divine comfort and understanding.
It’s comforting to know that even Jesus, the Son of God, experienced a wide range of human emotions during his time on Earth. In the Gospels, we see moments of his sadness, anger, and compassion.
One of the most poignant examples is found in John 11:35, where it simply states, “Jesus wept.” These two words show us that even the Savior of humanity didn’t shy away from tears. It’s a powerful reminder that crying is a natural expression of our emotions, and it doesn’t make us any less strong or faithful.
“ Jesus wept”
So, as I navigate life’s ups and downs, I remind myself that it’s okay to embrace my emotions, just as Jesus did. Crying is not a sign of weakness but a testament to our humanity, and it’s a way to seek solace and healing in the presence of a loving and understanding God.
If you are faced with tears. Emotions. Feelings that are hard. Struggles that seem to be too much or too hard. It’s okay to release those emotions in a healthy way.
I’m here to say… it’s okay.
