Let’s be real for a second…
Most of the stuff that keeps us stuck isn’t loud. It’s quiet. It sounds logical. Familiar. Safe.
And because of that, we believe it without even questioning it.
These are the lies we tell ourselves to keep the peace… but they end up stealing it.
We shrink. We stay. We settle.
But deep down, we know something has to change.
These 6 lies? I’ve believed every single one of them at some point. And maybe you have too.
1️⃣ “I need closure to move on.” You don’t. Closure doesn’t come wrapped up in an apology or a neat ending. It comes when you finally decide to stop giving the past the power to hold you.
2️⃣ “If it’s meant to be, it’ll happen.” No. Things don’t just fall into place on their own. You can’t sit back and wait for life to hand you what you want. You have to show up, make choices, and take the hard steps.
3️⃣ “My past defines me.”
Your past shaped you, but it doesn’t get to dictate your future. If you keep repeating the same story, though, it will become the only one you live in.
4️⃣ “I can fix what broke me.”
You can heal from it, but you can’t rebuild something that was never healthy to begin with. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is walk away and stop trying to fix what was meant to be left behind.
5️⃣ “I’ll change when I feel ready.”
You won’t. Change doesn’t wait for comfort…it requires movement in the middle of the fear. If you keep waiting to “feel ready,” you’ll stay exactly where you are.
6️⃣ “I should be further along by now.” This lie keeps you stuck in shame. You’re not behind. You’re living your story, not someone else’s timeline. Stop measuring your worth by a clock that was never yours to follow.
If one of these hit a little too close… that’s not a bad thing. And you don’t need anyone’s permission to let a lie go. It’s up to you!
